The ten Companions Promised Paradise

Abdur Rahman ibn ‘Awf reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Abu Bakr is in Paradise. Umar is in Paradise. Uthman is in Paradise. Ali is in Paradise. Talhah is in Paradise. Al-Zubayr is in Paradise. Abdur Rahman ibn ‘Awf is in Paradise. Sa’d is in Paradise. Sa’id is in Paradise. Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah is in Paradise.”

ABU BAKR AS-SIDDIQ
He is the first free man to his faith after Muhammad (pbuh) began preaching the message of Islam; he is the first of the rightly-guided caliphs and the first of the Ashara Mubashara. His original name was Abdul-Kaaba. After the advent of Islam, the Prophet Peace be upon Him gave him the name of Abdullah. His patronymic is Abu Bakr. He is known with the sobriquets of Jamiul Quran, as-Siddiq, and al-Atiq. The most famous of these is as-Siddiq

Umar ibn Al-Khattab
He reigns from Quraish, the tribe of Banu Adi. And lived as one of the most powerful and most influential Muslim caliphs known in history and succeeded Abu Bakr as the second caliph. This is the man whose name is paired with justice and truth, strength and courage, and asceticism and godliness. He was pious, observing and fearing Allah, and crying out of fearing Him. He is the second Caliph and one of the in-laws of the Prophet. His conversion to Islam marked the beginning of a new phase of the call.

`Uthman ibn `Affan
One of the close Companions of Prophet Muhammad, was the fourth man to accept Islam and the third of the four rightly guided caliphs of Islam. During his reign the Islamic state expanded vastly. `Uthman accomplished a lot during his rule; one of his notable accomplishments was the distribution of single-volume copies of the Qur’an to the Muslim provinces. These copies were made from the master compilation produced under the first caliph, Abu Bakr.

Ali Ibn Abi Taleb
Ali was the son of the Prophet’s uncle, his son-in-law and the fourth caliph. His father was Abu Talib, his mother was Fatima binti Asad the Quraish, and his grandfather was Abdulmuttalib. His patronymic was Abul Hasan and Abu Turab (father of earth), and his nickname was Haydar. His title was Commander of the Faithful. He is also referred to as “Allah’s Lion.”

Talha bin Ubaydullah
Was praised and complemented by Allah and His Messenger many times due to his heroism and unmatched virtues and whose heroism during the Battle of Uhud has always been mentioned admiringly, was one of the closest Companions of the Messenger of Allah, one of the prominent people of the period of Four Caliphs and one of the unchanging and distinguished members of the consultation assemblies. He is a distinguished Companion that devoted his life to Allah and His Messenger.

Az-Zubair bin Al-'Awwam
One of the earliest converts to Islam and supporters of Prophet Muhammad. He accepted Islam when he was only fifteen years old, in spite of the small number of Muslims at that time. He grew up to be a great hero and warrior for the cause of the Muslims. He was considered one of the senior Companions of the Prophet.

Abdur-Rahman Ibn 'Awf
He was one of the first eight persons to accept Islam. His name in Jahiliyah days was 'Abdu 'Amr. But when he accepted Islam the noble Prophet called him 'Abdur-Rahman - the servant of the Beneficent God. It is said that he accepted Islam only two days after Abu Bakr as-Siddiq did so

He participated in the battles of Badr, Uhud, the Ditch, Hudaybiya, Haybar, the conquest of Mecca and all other military expeditions. He performed great service, both military and political, during the caliphate periods.

Sa’id ibn Zaid
was born in Makkah in the year 22BH (Before Hijrah). He inherited his father’s religious beliefs of Islamic Monotheism, and accepted Islam at an early age. Sa’id with his wife accepted Islam when only a handful were Muslims. They went through all sorts of abuse, ridicule and torture because of their decision. Sa’id and his wife Fatimah binti Khattab were instrumental in the conversion of Umar bin Khattab who became one of the greatest followers of Islam. He served in the Islamic army of conquest for a long time and played an important role in making the region of Iraq and Syria become part of the Islamic land.

Amir ibn Abdullah ibn al-Jarrah
